“Why we were called to serve at GFA is a mystery to both of us, only that we believe
God is good....”

-- Becky Emerick, CCO missionary in Canada

You Never Know How God May Use You

Little did Pat Emerick know how God would build on his small business skills. Early in his career, he gained management experience at a grocery company, to later become a small business owner. But when God called, the Emerick’s answered.

Now, as Director of Gospel for Asia in Canada, Pat’s management skills help him fill in the gaps when no one else was available. “It is amazing to us to see how the Lord has prepared Pat in particular to serve this office in Canada,” says his wife, Becky.

Becky says God uniquely answered their prayer to serve Him. “Why we were called to serve at GFA is a mystery to both of us, only that we believe God is good, and in His grace and lovingkindness answered Pat's prayer to serve where ever He needed him most, or wherever no one else is going. Because of what we are doing at GFA, we know the Gospel is going into some of the most unreached places in the world today. We are extremely grateful,” relates Becky. Pat is responsible for GFA’s Operations Department, IT, and Human Resources. Becky not only works as Pat’s assistant, but helps in the Donor Services Department processing gifts, and leads the monthly ladies meetings. Becky is thankful their son, Patrick, also helps with IT. Becky admits, "We are praying for the Lord to provide more staff in all of these areas.”

Pat and Becky Emerick have a long history with Calvary Chapel, beginning in 1978. They were married at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. But they have been serving with GFA for eleven of the sixteen years that they’ve been affiliated with Calvary Chapel of Olympia. Originally, their entire family served together. Now, their oldest daughters, Katie and Christy live in Dallas.  Pat, Becky, and their two youngest, Jessica and Patrick, have stayed in Canada.

“We have been both blessed and challenged to really walk by faith and not by sight. We have been challenged repeatedly to really live out what we say we believe. We have been blessed by all the people we get to do ministry with. We are blessed by all the answers to prayer we see and glimpses we get of the work God is doing on the field in Asia,” says Becky.
